Concept and Masterplan for a New Distribution Center for a Power Tools Distributor
The Challenge
The company had reached the limits of scalability. Its current warehouse ran on a manual model, with no warehouse management system, no location or rack addressing, and knowledge concentrated in a single person. A planned volume increase of more than threefold required new infrastructure.
What We Do
An initial analysis involving seven key people across the organization.
Diagnosis of volumes, operating profile, and assortment classification, plus a growth forecast.
Development of a functional concept for a new distribution center of roughly 2,000 square meters.
Preparation of three technology scenarios with a breakdown of capital expenditure.
Results
Lost sales due to stockouts estimated at roughly PLN 200,000 per month.
Shipment volume forecast to grow more than threefold by 2030.
A recommended investment scenario in the PLN 8.5–14.5 million range.
Summary
Management was given a full functional and operational analysis, together with a concept for a new distribution center and three investment scenarios. The recommended option was based on a warehouse management system and high-bay storage technology, with a path identified for securing funding.
